About Me

Hey! My name is Ashley Huskey.

I am a follower of Christ, student, daughter, sister, artist, musician, insomniac, survivor, and pet lover just not always in that order. My days are spent mostly eating, sleeping, sport watching, piano playing, and art making. I live with my family and my two crazy pets: Clove the crazy beagle mutt and Carter the fluffy lion headed rabbit.

Recently, my life has had major twists and detours. The plans I thought I had became non-existent. After one grueling year of major health issues, my life has taken a totally different route than I could have ever imagined. March 10, 2016. A day that actually has some meaning to me. My health issues finally had a name: Vasculitis.

I was encouraged to start this blog by a dear friend of mine who has had cancer and found a voice in writing and sharing her experiences. This is intended to share what has been going on in my life for the past year from a health standpoint. I am going to be honest about the struggles, victories, and just daily life that I have had and am experiencing.  I named my blog Between The Detours because that is exactly what my life has become. Living life to the fullest between all the different paths that God has for me.

This blog is meant to be read from the beginning regarding my health. So, start here with part 1!

I am currently pursuing my Bachelors in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division. Between doctors appointments, I volunteer at a Christian school helping the art program, go to my brother’s ballgames, and am as involved in my church as my body allows.

I am excited to begin this journey and share it with you.

Thanks for stopping by.
